LAWTON. Iowa — George Arnold Ruhsam, 88, of Lawton died Thursday, April 13, 2000 at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Bethel Lutheran Church in Lawton with the Rev. Bruce Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Banner Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time today at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel in Sioux City.

Rubsam was born Nov. 14, 1911 in Ashton, Iowa, the son of George and Eliza (Maust) Rubsam. He had lived in Northwest Iowa his entire life.

He married Jeanette Ida Mastbergen on April 9, 1936 in Primghar, Iowa. They moved to the Lawton area in 1942, where he farmed. He retired from farming in 1984. They moved to Sioux Falls in 1998.

He attended Bethel Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his Wife; a daughter and her husband, Janice and John Rohan of Fort Wayne, Ind.; a son, Kenneth of Columbia, Md.: a sister, Lucille Rubsam of Sioux City; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Lloyd.

Memorials may be directed to Make-A-Wish Foundation of South Dakota.
