Emma Blanche Sager, 87, of Sioux City died Saturday, April 11, 1998, in Sioux City.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Community Presbyterian Church in Lawton, Iowa, with the Rev. Marvin Mueller officiating. Burial will be in Banner Township Cemetery. Christy, Smith and Hockenberry Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Sager was born Dec. 18, 1910, in Lawton, the daughter of Fred Hayes and Blanche Myrtle (Joseph) Couch. She was raised in Lawton, graduating from Lawton High School and Westmar College in Le Mars, Iowa.

She married Louie D. Sager on May 24, 1941, in Hartington, Neb.

She had moved to rural Merrill, lowa and then to rural Hinton, Iowa. She taught school from 1950 to 1978 in rural Hinton and Kingsley, Iowa, and then at Kingsley-Pierson Community School. She moved to Lawton in 1979.

Mr. Sager died Aug. 16, 1984. She entered Sunrise Retirement Center in January 1992.

She was a member of Community Presbyterian Church, the Presbyterian Women, the Eastern Star of Kingsley and the Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority.

Survivors include a son and his wile, Louie E. and Connie of South Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Mary Ann and Paul Niemeier of Lawton, Iowa; two sisters, Georgian Sparr of Lawton and Josephine Frye of Newark, Ohio; five grandchildren, Chadwick Sager, Angela Votck and Felicia, Richard and Melissa Niemeier; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Pallbearers will be Fred, Jeff, James and Kim Sparr, Don Wohlert and Nick Votek.

Memorials may be directed to either Community Presbyterian Church or the Sunrise Retirement Center.
