LAWTON, Iowa — Lorraine Mae Schumann, 74, of Lawton died Monday, Jan. 5, 1998, at her sisters home in Odebolt, Iowa, of accidental carbon monoxide poisoning.

Joint funeral services will be held for Mrs Schumann and Harold and Frances Weifenbach at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Odebolt, with the Rev. Albert Buelow officiating. The body of Mrs. Schumann will be cremated and burial will be in Banner Township Cemetery in Lawton at a later date. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home in Odebolt. A memorial service for Mrs. Schumann will be at 5 p.m. Monday, with the family present after 4:30 p.m., at Bethel Lutheran Church in Lawton, with the Rev. Bruce Jackson officiating.

Mrs. Schumann was born Dec. 28, 1923, in Battle Creek, Iowa, the daughter of Otto and Lina (Hobert) Schumann Jr. She received her education in Battle Creek, and later earned her GED. She made her home in Ventura, Calif., for several years where she was employed as a custodian for the Government Center, She returned to Iowa where she lived five years in Sioux City and then moved to Lawton.

She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Lawton. She was also a member of the Garden Club, Senior Citizens, Great Grannies Band in Lawton, and the Legion Auxiliary in Odebolt. She served as a volunteer at St. Lukes Hospital in Sioux City.

Survivors include two daughters Lonna and her husband, John of Lawton, and Davett Benson, Lawton and her special friend. Richard Riemenschneider of Pierson, Iowa; two sons, Terry Albers and his wife, Kay of Kuna, Idaho, and Rick Albers of San Luis Obispo, Calif; nine grandchildren, Tracy Kunkel, Tiffany Miller, Shane Miller, Ryan Albers, Rebecca Albers, Joshua Albers, Nicole Benson, Denett Ruring and Kim Terry. six great-grandchildren; and
sisters, Roberta Hall of Farnhamville, Iowa and Alice Meyer of Schleswig, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Leonard Schumann.
