John F. Sheets, 83, of Sioux City died unexpectedly Thursday, July 2, 1998, at Casa de Paz Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

There will be no services or visitation. The body was cremated. Burial will be in Banner Township Cemetery in Lawton, Iowa at a later date. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Sheets was born Feb. 12, 1915, in Bronson, Iowa, the son of Herman and Hilma (Isaacson) Sheets. He married Phyllis Harrison Oct. 9, 1937, in Sioux, City. A longtime Sioux City resident, he had also lived in California from 1943 to 1944, and in Omaha, Neb. 1945-1945. He was a carpenter at the Sioux City Stockyards for 25 years. He enjoyed ballroom dancing.

Survivors include his wife; a granddaughter, Misty Lee; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Nellie Woolworth of Sioux City; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preced in death by a daughter, Debra.
