LAWTON, Iowa — Leonard Oscar Matiak, 82, of Lawton died Thursday, June 18, 1998, in Lawton.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Christy Smith and Hotkenberry Funeral Home with the Rev. Greg Boden officiating. Burial will be in Banner Township Cemetery in Lawton. Visitation will be 1 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Maitak was born Feb 28, 1916 in Monroe County Wis. the son of Anthon and Hilda (Hanson) Manak. He received his education at Monroe County contry school and served in the U.S. Army from October 1940 to November 1941. He lived in LaCrosse, Wis. until moving to Lawton in 1993. He worked in Maintenance at Trane Manufacturing in LaCrosse.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Gene and Barbara Matiak of Mark, Ill.; three daughters, Sonja Urich and her fiance, Richard Thibodeau, of Sioux City, Connie and her husband, Larry A. King of Lawton, and Linda and her husband Don McCready of Waterloo,Iowa; 12, grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Sherry Lynn Matiak; and a granddaughter, Brenda Lee Remetch.

Pallbearers will be Brock Young, Rich Remetch, Timothy Thomas, Jay Thomas, Jeff Carlson, and Roger DeVries.
