Dale G. Henkel, 73, of Sioux City died Thursday, Aug. 28, 1997, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.

Private family memorial services will be Saturday at Community Presbyterian Church in Lawton, Iowa, with Dr. Robert Peters officiating. The body was cremated. Burial will be in Banner Township Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Anderson-Perasso Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Henkel was born May 17, 1924, in Mineola, Iowa, the son of Carl and Ruth (Jones) Henkel.

He married Wanda Timson on Sept. 26, 1959, in Sioux City. She died Oct. 17, 1996, in Sioux City. He was employed at Johnson Biscuit Company, Wonder Bread, Dressed Beef and retired from Standard Ready Mix.

He was a member of Morningside Church of Christ.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Steve Owen and Cindy of Hubbard, Neb. and Dan Owen and Jean of Salix, Iowa; a daughter and her husband, Sue Lan and Roger Horsley of Lawton; three brothers, Leon of Whiting, Iowa, Lyle of Sioux City and Don of Upland, Calif.; three sisters, Lorraine Lethcoe of Kansas City, Mo., Doris Skinner of Santa Moncia, Calif. and Maxine Beck of Hinton, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren
