Dale B. Anderson, 65, of Mapleton, died Friday, Nov. 8, 1991, at a Sioux City hospital after a long battle with cancer.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John United Methodist Church in Mapleton, with the Rev. Steven Root officiating. Burial will be in Cushing Cemetery, with military honors by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1750 of Correctionville and the American Legion, F. Roger Baumann Post 624 of Cushing. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with Masonic services at 7:30 p.m., at the Walter-Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Mr. Anderson was born Feb. 22, 1926, in Ida County, the son of Albert and Berneice (Gray) Anderson. He attended school in Cushing. During World War II he served in the Army as a combat engineer in the European Theater. He married Alyce M. Wright July 12, 1947, in South Sioux City, Neb. He founded and served as president of Anderson Construction Company, Inc., of Mapleton.

He was a member of St. John United Methodist Church in Mapleton, and a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Cushing. He was a member of the Associated General Contractors of America, the American Legion and the VFW, Cerulean Lodge 550, AF&AM, the Scottish Rite Consistory, the Abu Bekr Shrine Temple, and had served on the school boards of Cushing and Eastwood schools.

Survivors include his wife; a son and his wife, Steven and Cindee of Mapleton; three daughters and their husbands, Pat and Arlyn Stewart of St. Francis, Minn., Pam and Dan Kovarna of Mapleton and Candy and Bob Miller of Correctionville; 11 grandchildren, Holly and Kevin Anderson, Denise Beckermann and her husband, Mark, Todd Conover and his wife, Jennifer, David, Tina, Bill and Dustin Kovarna, Renee, Dan and Jim Miller; a great-grandson, Jacob Conover; his mother, of Cushing; and two brothers, Darwin and Delmar, both of Correctionville.

He was preceded in death by his father; a sister, Ruth; and a brother, Darlo.

Memorial donations may be directed to the Shrine Hospital.
