Cushing, Iowa — Alyce Marie Demarest, 84, of Cushing died Monday March 4, 1996, at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Correctionville.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. John Lutheran Church in Cushing with Pastor Douglas Opp officiating. Burial will be in the Cushing Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6:30 to 8 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Barker Funeral Home in Holstein.

Mrs. Demarest was born March 27,1911, in rural Cushing, the daughter of Gustav and Caroline (Huber) Schulke. She graddated from Cushing High School.

On Dec. 27, 1976, she married Harold Demarest at St.: John Lutheran Church in Cushing.

She was a waitress at Lou's Cafe in Cushing for 20 years.

Demarest was a member of St. Joirn Lutheran Church. and American Legion Auxiliary in Cushing.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Francis and his wife, Collette Schulke; of Sacramento, Calif.; a stepson, Gaylen and his wife, Myrtie Demarest of Cushing; a step-dughter, Laurel and her husband,Wayne Babb, of Moville and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death. by four brothers,Frank, William, Edward and Lester Schulke, and two sisters Viola O'Meara and Bertha "Betty" Agnew.
