HOLSTEIN, Iowa — Berneice Eileen Anderson, 92, of Holstein, formerly of Cushing, died Saturday, Oct. 12, 1996, at the Good Samaritan Center in Holstein.

Services will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church in Cushing with the Rev. Dee Ann Klapp officiating. Burial will be in the Cushing Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today with the family present 7 to 8 p.m, at the Barker Funeral Home in Correctionville. A family prayer service will be 2:15 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Mrs. Anderson was born Oct. 11, 1904, in Cushing, the daughter of William Russell and Ethel Dell (Strickling) Gray. She attended country school and graduated from Cushing High School in 1923.

On July 11, 1923, she married Albert Edward Anderson at Alta. The couple farmed south of Cushing before moving to Arkansas. They later moved to Beloit, Wis. Mr. Anderson died May 22, 1941, in Beloit. She was a cook at a cafe, prepared school hot lunches and clerked in a grocery store. She was church organist for about 40 years.

Mrs. Anderson was a member of the the First United Methodist Church of Cushing, American Legion Auxiliary of Cushing and former member of Stella Chapter 17 Order of Eastern Star, United Methodist Women and various other organizations.

Survivors include 15 grandchildren, Patricia Stewart, Pamela Kovarna, Candace Miller, Steven, Russel, Anson, Cynthia, Darby, Shelby, Wallen Douglas, and Jeffrey Anderson; Dena Height, Kristi Andrews, Kimberly Green and Jennifer Goettsch; three daughters-in-law, Alyce Anderson of Mapleton, J. Kay Anderson of Correctionville and Brenda Anderson of Westfield; two sisters, C. Veryl Bullock of Sioux City and Z. DuVonne Law of Quimby; two brothers, Russell W. Gray of Holstein and Robert G. Gray of Moville; 18 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Anna Ruth Sones; four sons, Dale Burdette, Darwin Dean, Dario Gene and Delmer Don; a brother, 0. Dwight Gray; two great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
