Martin Swain, 55, of Seattle, Wash. died Wednesday, Aug. 19, 1998, in Seattle.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Christy, Smith and Hockenberry Funeral Home in Sioux City, with the Rev. James Berka of St. Luke Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Willow Township Cemetery, Holly Spring, Iowa. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Swain was born May 20, 1943, in Colney Heath Hertfordshire, England, the son of Albert and Winifred (Cooper) Swain. He was raised in England and moved to Seattle in 1968.

He married Diana Hall on Sept. 11, 1971, in Seattle, They moved to England in 1971 and returned to Seattle in 1975. He was employed as an engineer with Boeing Aircraft in Seattle and an aircraft manufacturing planet in England.

He was acitve in many civic organizations in Seattle.

Survivors include his wife; and a niece and her husband, Nicky and Nick Dobbs of Bournemouth, England.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
