CORRECTIONVILLE, Iowa — Dorothy Louise Scharff, 90, of Correctionville died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000.

Services will be at 10:,30 a.m. Thursday at St. John Lutheran Church in Cushing, Iowa, with the Rev. Joelle Colville-Hanson officiating. Burial will be in Correctionville Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. at Barker Funeral Home in Correctionville.

Mrs. Scharff was born Sept. 28, 1909, in Pierson, the daughter of Fred W. and Caroline (Hoppe) Benedix, baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, and attended country school through seventh grade, She married Erich Henry Scharff on Feb. 6, 1929, on the family farm. They farmed in the Cushing and Correctionville area until retiring to Correctionville in 1974. She entered Correctionville Nursing and Rehab Center in 1981.

She was a member of St. John Lutheran church.

Survivors include a daughter, Kay Scharff of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sisters-in-law, Velda Turner of Yakima, Wash., and Mildred Scharff of Cherokee, Iowa; and eight nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband and a brother, Fred Lewis Benedix.

Pallbearers will be Robert, Fred H. and Dale Benedix, Frank Melvin F. and Gary Hoppe.

Memorials may be directed to St. John Lutheran Church or Correctionville Rescue & fire Department.
