Ival Glen Smith 1912-2000

CORRECTIONVILLE, Iowa —Ival Glen Smith, 87, of Correctionville died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2000, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Barker Funeral Home in Correctionville, with the Rev. Consorcia A. Sanchez officiating. Burial will he in Correctionville Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Smith was born Aug. 20, 1912, in Correctionville, the son of Robert and Lillie (Conklin) Smith. He graduated from Correctionville High School in 1933.

He married Arlene Renville on Aug. 19, 1933, in Anthon, Iowa. They made their home in Correctionville and had lived in Illinois and California. He worked in sales and drove for Simonsen's in Quimby, Iowa, for 40 years.
He was a former mayor and councilman in Correctionville. He belonged to Correctionville Clean-up Committee and received the Outstanding Citizen of Correctionville award. He enjoyed traveling and gardening.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Jim and his wife, Rita of Georgia, Jon and his wife, Maggie of California, and Jay and his special friend, Linda of Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Jerri Ann and Jim Jaacks of Correctionville; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother Jack.
