ANTHON, Iowa | Petty Officer Robert “Jack” John Carr (Ret. U.S. Navy), 70, of Anthon passed away Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at Hallmark Care Center in Sioux City.

Per John’s wishes, his body will be cremated. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph Cemetery, Anthon. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

He was born on June 7, 1942, in Anthon, to Cyril J. and Dorothy (Sevening) Carr. He graduated from Anthon High School. John enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served for 30 years retiring as a hull maintenance technician and was a Vietnam Veteran.

He is survived by his three daughters, Kim (William) Hall, Ann (Quinn) Russell, and Paula (John) Crosby, all of Valdosta, Ga.; two brothers Joe (Mary) Carr of Jacksonville, Fla., and Jerry (Peaty) Carr of Loyalton, Calif.; two sisters, Judy (Bill) Lourens of Sioux City, and Jenny (Paul) Hansel of Lake Havasu, Ariz.; seven grandchildren, Chris Habner, Kayla Russell, Marriah Russell, Mindy Crosby, John Crosby, all of Valdosta, Cpl. Andrew (Anna) Russell of Jacksonville, N.C., and Jenny (Jame Wayne) Chance of Adel, Ga.; and four great-grandchildren, Kaloni Russell, Cheyenne Habener, Hailey Chance and Brooklyn Chance.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Carolin Fisher Carr; and a brother, Jim Carr.
