SIOUX CITY | Marion Joanne Grego, 84, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, at a Sioux City hospital.

A celebration of mom’s life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel.

Marion was born on Aug. 3, 1928, in Ottosen, Iowa, to Ted and Gladys (Hanson) Underberg. She graduated from Ottosen High School, Iowa State Teachers College, and the University of South Dakota.

She married Tony Grego on June 18, 1950, in Elk Point, S.D. She was employed with the Sioux City Schools as a special education teacher and retired in 1990.

She belonged to ISEA, SCEA, S.C. Retired Educators and Mu Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma. Marion was a member of the Northwest Iowa Special Olympics committee and a member of the Association of Retarded Citizens

Marion is survived by one daughter, Kip (John) Lennon of Sioux City; two sons, Ted Grego of Glencoe, Minn., and Jim Grego of Macedon, N.Y.; sister, Barbara Opheim of Wichita, Kan.; sister-in-law, Doris Underberg of Fort Dodge, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Alma; husband, Tony Grego; and one brother, Wally.
