SIOUX CITY | Charles W. Edwards, 71, of Sioux City died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, at a local care facility.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, at St. James United Methodist Church. Inurnment will be at a later late. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service.

Charles was born on May 9, 1941 in Sioux City, the son of Jess and Dorothy (Atwood) Edwards. He graduated in 1959 from Central High School.

On Aug. 27, 1959, Charles was united in marriage to Virginia Davis in Sioux City. Charles worked for Schwartz Grocery Store and later at Hy-Vee for 23 years, retiring in 2004 from the Southern Hills Hy-Vee.

Charles enjoyed outdoor activities, including golf, fishing and yard work. Family and friends were important to him.

Charles is survived by his wife, Virginia; one son, Chuck and his wife Lori of Sioux City; two daughters, Kathy and her husband Larry Happe of Montevideo, Minn., and Lisa and her husband Mitch Downs of Ames, Iowa; five grandchildren; his mother, Dorothy Edwards of Sioux City; three brothers, Darrell Edwards of Mississippi and Neal Edwards and Tom Edwards, both of Sioux City.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jess.
