Sophia Anna Williams, 94, of Sergeant Bluff died Friday, Nov. 13, 1998, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Community United Methodist Church in Sergeant Bluff, with Dr. Paul Samuelson officiating. Burial will be in Woodbury Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Christy, Smith and Hockenberry Funeral Home in Sioux City.

Mrs. Williams was born Dec. 28, 1903, in Gregory County, S.D., the daughter of Jacob and Anna Marie (Reinhart) Wuest. She had lived in the Siouxland area most of her life.

She married Robert R. Williams on April 2, 1931, in Bonesteel, SD. He died Sept. 9, 1978. She was employed as a cook with Murphys Inn, a press operator at a laundry and then as a cook at Sunshine Food Stores. She was also a homemaker.

She was a member of Community United Methodist Church.

Survivors include five sons, Clarence and his wife, Mae, Robert and his wife, Lela, Marvin and Donald, all of Sergeant Bluff, and Ronald and his wife, Debbie, of Santa Ynez, Calif.; four daughters, Velma and Betty Hubler, both of Tipton, Iowa, Barbara and her husband, William Slocum, of San Antonio, Texas, and Doris and her husband, Hank Grillet, of Fresno, Calif.; 33 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Lamoureux; a son, Kenneth; six sisters; and a brother.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
