ANTHON, Iowa — Virgie Leona Eickholt, 83, of Anthon died Sunday, Jan. 10, 1999, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Anthon, with the Rev. David Hogan officiating. Burial will be in the Mount St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Anthon. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Anthon. A wake service will be held at 7 p.m., followed by a service conducted by American Legion Auxiliary McNiff Unit 389 of Anthon.

Mrs. Eickholt was born Nov. 5, 1915, at Buck Grove, Iowa, the daughter of William and Cora Thompson. She moved to Anthon as a child and attended Anthon schools.

She married William Eickholt on Nov. 8, 1933, in Anthon. He died on Oct. 8, 1993.

She was a member of St. Jospeph's Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary McNiff Unit 389.

Survivors include three sons and their wives, William and Phyliss Eickholt of Cherokee, Iowa, Walter and Esther Eickholt of Carson, Iowa, and Francis and Marlene Eickholt of Onawa, Iowa; a daughter and her husband, Alice and Kenneth Bunnell of Anthon; two brothers, Fred Thompson and his wife, Norma, of Correctionville, Iowa, and Walter Thompson of Moville, Iowa; 12 grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Friday, Henry and Jerry Thompson; a daughter, Margaret Elaine Eickholt, and a grandson, Edward William Eickholt.
