Hazel Loretta King, 83, of Sioux City, formerly of Bronson, Iowa, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000, at Indian Hills Care Center in Sioux City.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Moville, Iowa, with Monsignor Roger J. Augustine officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Anthon, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7 at Christy-Smith McCulloch Chapel in Moville.

Mrs. King was born April 9, 1916, in Ute, Iowa, the daughter of Thomas Austin and Ann (Hutchens) Sankey. She was raised in Ute and graduated from Ute High School. She attended a beauty school in Omaha.

She married Joseph A. King on March 5, 1941, in Sioux City. The couple made their home in Bronson. Following his death in 1966, she moved to Sioux City. She was employed with Wincharger, which was later known as Zenith, until its closing. She also helped to cared for elder people in the community.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sioux City.

Survivors include a son, Joe King of Bronson; a daughter-in-law, Diane King of Bronson; a sister and her husband, Lucille and Al Colby of Sioux City; six grandchildren, Kim, Rob, Steve, Jeff and Kathy King and Barb Amos: six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by son, Larry King; a brother, Clifford Sankey; a sister, Leone Wheeler; and a grandson, Tommy King.

Pallbearers will be Payne Sargisson, Norman Williams, Donny Wohlert, Gehrig Johndreau, Don Hanson, Larry Brummer and Maylok Chartier.
