Leo B. Maguire, 71, of rural Anthon died Sunday, July 14, 1996 at his home near Anthon.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Anthon with the Rev. David Hogan officiating. Burial will be in Mount St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Anthon. Visitation will he after 2 p.m. today with a vigil wake service at 7 p.m. followed by a Knights of Columbus rosary at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Anthon.

Mr. Maguire was born Nov. 12, 1924, in Clark, SD., the son of Hugh and Rebecca (Bogue) Maguire. The family lived at Raymond, S.D, until 1934 when they moved to the Grand Meadow area in Iowa. In 1936, they moved to Pierson where he graduated from high school in 1942. He moved to Anthon in 1953.

On June 26, I954, he married Katherine "Dottie" Karhoff at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Anthon. The couple farmed in the Anthon area.

Mr. Maguire was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. He served on the Farmer's Co-op Elevator Board at Pierson and was active in the Democratic Party.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Kate Maguire and Becky and her hushand, Jim Venteicher all of Anthon; two sons, Patrick and his wife, Freda of Gastonia,N.C. and Timothy of Cabot, Ark; a sister, Patricia Maguire of Colorado Springs, Colo., a brother and his wife, Kevin and Joan of Cleveland, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Marian Maguire of Bismarck, N.D:, and four grandchildren, Andrea and Joel Venteicher and Amanda and Kristine Maquire.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John
