Margaret E. (Flynn) Walling, 89, of Anthon died Wednesday, July 24, 1996 at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Anthon with the Rev. Lawrence Walling, a son, and the Rev. David Hogan officiating. Burial will be in Mount St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at Anthon. Visitation will be 2 to 5 p.m. today, with a rosary at 4 p.m. at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Anthon. Visitation will continue at the church, with a vigil wake service at 7 p.m.

Mrs. Walling was born Feb. 22, 1907, in Oto, the daughter of Cornelius and Sophie (Renz) Flynn. She attended Morningside Teacher's College in Sioux City and taught school in the Anthon, Oto and Battle Creek area.

She married Cyril Walling Feb. 26, 1930. The couple farmed in the. Anthon and Correctionville area. He died Feb. 14, 1980.

Mrs. Walling was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Survivors include eight daughters, Sister Mary Clare OSM of Anthon, Mrs. Wyman (LaVonne) Vining of Denver, Mrs. Richard (Doris) Lehmann of Colorado Springs, Colo., Mrs. John. (Lois) Kessenich of Le Mars, Mrs. Patricia Velasquez of El Centro, Calif., Mrs. Ronald (Mary) Berg of Cherokee, Mrs. Chris (Marcella) White of Forest Grove, Ore., and Miss Maurine Walling of Denver; six sons, Gerald and his wife, Jan of Algona, Cyril of Denver, Charles and his wife, Rita of Slidell, La., Father Lawrence Walling OSM of Milwaukie, Ore., Ronald and his wife, Becky of Columbia City, Ore., and Dennis and his wife, Julie of Anthon; 28 grandchildren; 28 great- grandchildren; a sister, Mary Schwab of Dunlap.

She was also preteded in death by two brothers, Edwin and Andrew Flynn, and a granddaughter, Sheila Ann.
