Edward E. 'Eddie' Gothier 1925-1996

Edward E. 'Eddie' Gothier, 70, Sioux City, died Wednesday, May 29, 1996, at a Sioux City hospital after a short illness.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Anthon, Iowa, with the Rev. David Hogan officiating. Burial will be in Mount St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Anthon with a flag presentation by McNiff Post 389, American Legion of Anthon. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Gothier was born June 4, 1925, in Anthon, the son of Edmund and Martha (Bernard) Gothier.

He served in the U.S. Navy Seabees during World War II.

On Jan. 15, 1949, he married Barbara Forch in Anthon. He worked for Qualier Oats Co. in Anthon, Graettinger, Los Angeles, Calif. and Phoenix, Ariz., for several years and returned to Iowa. He then worked at Flasco Manufacturing and various manufacturing companies. After retiring in 1990, he was a driver for Armadillo Express until the present time.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Mark, Curt and Scott, all of Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Cheri and Todd Tripp of Sioux City; a brother and his wife, Harold and Beth of Anaheim, Calif.; three sisters, Helen and her husband, Willerd Sawin of Anthon, Charlotte and her husband, Herman Miller of LeMars and Shirley Gothier of Los Angeles, and six grandchildren, Sara, Jill, Jason, Jeremy, Tracey and Aaron.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Nita.
