George M. Forch 1907-1996

ANTHON, Iowa — George M. Forch, 88, of Anthon died Monday, Feb. 5, 1996, at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Correctionville.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Anthon with Rev. David Hogan officiating. Burial will be in Mount St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Anthon. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a vigil wake service at 7:30 p.m. at Armstrong Funeral Home in Anthon.

Mr. Forch was born July 30, 1907, in Anthon, the son of John and Anna (Schuh) Burow. At age of 4, he was adopted by his uncle and aunt, Karl and Mary Forch. He married Mildred Smith June 27, 1928, in Sioux City. He was a lifelong Anthon area resident where he farmed most of his life. He also worked for the ASCS Departrrient. The couple moved into Anthon in 1947. She died Feb. 21, 1994.

Mr. Forch was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He served on the Anthon Volunteer Fire Department for 27 years. He was a school board director in Kedrin Township for three years.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Barbara and Edward Gothier of Sioux City; two sons, Gerald and his wife, Sally of Oto and Roger of Moville; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Daniel; a granddaughter, Shelly L. Forch; four brothers and two sisters.
