CORRECTIONVILLE, Iowa — Walter Peter Harder, 88, of Correctionville died Thursday, Oct. 14, 1999, at Correctionville Nursing and Rehab Center,

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Grace Lutheran Church in Correctionville, with the Rev. Michael Harman officiating. Burial will be in Correctionville Cemetery. Visitatioh,will be 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at Barker Funeral Home in Correctionville.

Mr. Harder was born March 23, 1911, in Correctionville, the son of Peter and Johanna (Kettlesen) Harder. He attended school in Correctionville.

He married Thelma Dicus on Sept. 7, 1938, in Le Mars, Iowa. They farmed in Correctionville until retiring in 1979, and moved into Correctionville.

He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and enjoyed golfing and playing cards.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Norma Thies of Moville, Iowa; two grandchildren, Julie Meyer and Gregory Thies; three great-grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Fred and Leona of Correctionville; two sisters, Anna Weathers of Hillsbourough, Calif., and Helen and her husband, Orville Johannsen of Holstein, Iowa; and a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Harder of Galva, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Duane Thies; a sister, Clara King; a brother, John; two sisters-in-law, Waneta and Fannie Mae Harder; and two brothers-in-law, Lawrence King and Wayne Weathers.
