CORRECTIONVILLE, Iowa —Betty Jane Brink, 78, of Cherokee, Iowa, formerly of Correctionville, died Fridays, Dec. 25, 1998, at Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital in Cherokee.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Grace United Methodist Church in Correctionville, with the Revs. Consorcia A. Sanchez and Larry Ostercamp officiating. Burial will be in Correctionville Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present 5 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Barker Funeral Home in Correctionville.

Mrs. Brink was born Nov 23, 1920, in Correctionville, the daughter of Rueben and Lena (Markuson) Ward. She was raised in Correctionville and graduated from Correctionville High School in 1938. She attended Iowa State College for one years, then attended post-graduated high school for Normal Training. She taught at rural school for one year. She graduated from Iowa State College, College Of Home Economics in 1944, with a degree in institution management. She was employed as a food supervisor and in the experimental kitchen of Stouffer Corp. in Cleveland, Ohio.

She married Bob Brink on May 19, 1945, in Lakewood, Ohio. The couple lived in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and California, before returning to Iowa in 1989.

She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and Cherokee Country Club. She enjoyed golfing, playing bridge and traveling.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter and her husband, Nancy and Dr. Stephen Veit of Cherokee; two sons, Gary of Los Gatos, Calif., and Robert an his wife, Cyndye Polsgrove of Murieta, Calif.; four grandchildren, Sara, Julia, Anna and Stephen Veit; a sister-in-law, Winona Ward of Silver Springs, Md.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceed in death by her parents; three brothers, Elmer, Mike and Boyd Ward; two sisters, Doris Anderson and Leis Meskimen; two sisters-in-law, Vi and Lulubel Ward; and two brothes-in-law, Gaylen Anderson and Tit Meskimen.

Memorials ma be directed to Hospice Program at Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital in Cherokee.
