Basil Vinton Jones, 86, of Plainfield, Iowa, formerly of Correctionville, died Thursday, April 23,1998 at Waverly Municipal Hospital in Waverly, Iowa.

Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday in Correctionville Cemetery in Correctionville with, Kennth Barker officiating. Chenoweth & Son Funeral Home of Nashua, Iowa is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Jones was born Nov. 30, 1911, in Correctionville, the son of Albert
and Katherine (Lake) Jones. He attended school in the Correctionville area, graduating from Correctionville High School in 1930. He was married to Ida Mae Barker.

He married Ruth Clark April 28, 1970,and the couple moved to Plainfield Iowa. She died in 1982. He married Leone Hartzell Feb. 4, 1984. He farmed in the Correctionville area most of his life, retiring in 1965. He also worked for a time at the Co-op Elevator and as a school bus driver for the Correctionville Schbols.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Plainfield. Fishing, gardening, and working crossword puzzles were among his favorite pastimes,

Survivors, include, his wife a daughter and her husband, Judy Jones and Jim Groenwold of Sioux City.
