CORRECTIONVILLE, Iowa -- Opal Alice Myrtue, 95, of Correctionville died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 1997, at the Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital in Cherkoee, Iowa.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Grace United Methodist Church in Correctionville, with the Rev. Consorcia A. Sanchez officiating.

Burial will be in Correctionville City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Barker Funeral Home in Correctionville.

Mrs. Myrtue was born March 8, 1902, in Rockport, Mo., the daughter of Morris and Lola (Greer) Schoning. She moved with her family to Kansas. She graduated from Central High School in Sioux City in 1920 and from Northwest Iowa Commmunity College. She taught in the Oto, Iowa school district.

She married Frank Myrtue on Aug. 29, 1926, in Sergeant Bluff. The couple lived around Oto and Climbing Hill, Iowa. They moved north of Correctionville in 1931; where they farmed until 1979, when they moved into Correctionville.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, the Senior Citizens and a former member of the Good Neighbors. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting and traveling.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Richard and Pauline of Woodstock, Md.; a daughter, Mary Kroll of Correctionville; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her husdand two brothers, Leon and Harold Schoning.
