CORRECTIONVILLE, Iowa — Norma Lee Whitesell, 69, of Correctionville died Wednesday, April 31, 1997, at the Park View Hospital in Riverside, Calif. following a brief illness.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Correctionville Cemetery, with the Rev. Kevin Huss officiating. Barker Funeral Home in Correctionville is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Whitesell was born May 27, 1927, in Correctionville, the daughter of Ernest "Jack" and Edna (Moeller) Huss. She was raised by Lilly and Bill Hansen following the death of her mother in 1939.

She married Ray E. Whitesell on Nov. 10, 1946, in Elk Point, S.D. The couple lived in Correctionville until 1955. She was baptized and confirmed as an adult in the Lutheran faith.

They moved to Whittier, Calif., where she was employed with Hughes Air Craft Company for many years. She retired in 1991 and returned to Correctionville.

Survivors include her husband; five sons, Larry and his wife, Lana, of Bakersfield, Calif., Garry and his wife, Rale, of Mira Loma, Calif., Robert of Emmetsberg, Iowa, and Roscoe and Dale and his wife, Pam of all of Whittier, Calif.; two daughters and their husbands, Sharon and Mike Shelburn of Whittier, Calif. and Lisa Whitesell and her fiance, Ralph, of Hull, Iowa; 21 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Donald and Phyllis Huss of Battle Creek, Iowa; a sister and her husband, Charlotte and Ray Mammen of Correctionville; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson in infancy; a brother, Gerald Huss; and a sister, LaVonne Mildenstein.
