Howard Condit Henderson,89,of Correctionville died Thursday, April 10, 1997, at the home of his son in Ida Grove, Iowa.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the First Christian Church in Onawa, Iowa, with the Rev. Donald R. Ludwick officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Correctionville City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:30 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Barker Funeral Home in Correctionville. Pearson Funeral Home of Onawa is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Henderson was born March 31,1908, in a house built by his father on a farm near Cushing, Iowa, to Henry and Eva (Condit) Henderson. He graduated from Cushing High School in 1926, and from business college in Sioux City in 1927. He married Lucille Kraft June 20, 1933. The couple farmed south of Correctionville, and he was later employed as a mail carrier. He married Helen Buffington June 5, 1981, and continued to reside in Correctionville until his health failed.

Survivors include his wife, Helen; four daughters, Charlotte Cockburn of Sioux City, Shirley and her husband Dwight Williamson of Clear Lake, Iowa, LaRhee Henderson, and Charm and her husband Louis Russell, all of Des Moines, Iowa; two sons, Terry of San Diego, Calif., and Stan and his wife Mary of Ida Grove; two stepdaughters and their husbands, Norma and Philip Olson of Villisca, Iowa, and Barbara and Jim Dorsey of Stanton, Neb.; a stepson and his wife, Bob and Annie Buffington of Bloomington, Ill.; 22 grandchildren, Clifton, Curtis; Cory, and Chad aickburn, Monty and Amy Williamson, Shelly King, Cam Treloar, Lori Wagner, Kari Fields, Mike, Alan, Mark, and Todd Henderson, Susan Hofmann, Meri and Sarah Russell, Dan and Karl Olson, DeAnna Struthers, and Matt and Jon Dorsey; 15 great-grand-children; a sister, Caroline Weldinger of Battle Creek, Iowa; and a sister-in-law, Opal of Cushing, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Frank, George, Henry, and Clarence; and three sisters, Mary, Elsie, and Margaret.

Memorials may be directed to Horne Memorial Hospice at Ida Grove, or Burgess Memorial Hospice at Onawa
