Alvin W. Shever, 88, of Anthon died Wednesday, March 26, 1997, at the Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton, Iowa.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church in Anthon, with the Rev. Kent Kastler officiating. Burial will be in Correctionville Cemetery at Correctionville, Iowa. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Anthon.

Mr. Shever was born Jan. 6, 1909, near Correctionville, the son of Earl Thomas and Myrtle L. (Wortham) Shever. He farmed in the Correctionville and Anthon areas before moving into Anthon.

He was a member of United Methodist Church and a former member of the Willow Vale Golf Club in Mapleton.

Survivors include two brothers, Ervin of Mapleton and Kenneth of Woodbine, Iowa; and two sisters, Maxine Wright of Correctionville and Gwen and her husband Ray England of Anthon.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
