Cyril Eldred Fitch, 72, of Correctionville died Thursday, Jan, 9, 1997 at his residence.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Grace United Methodist Church in Correctionville, with the Rev. Dee Ann Klapp officiating. Burial will be in Correctionville Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the American Legion Mumford-Moon Post 79 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Sioux Valley Post 1750 of Correctionville. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at the Barker Funeral Home of Correctionville.

Mr. Fitch was born Dec. 24, 1924, in Correctionville, the son of Leslie Ray and Lola May (Joy) Fitch. He married Geraldine "Geri" Earnest on Feb. 24, 1951, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He farmed in the Correctionville area most of his life.

He was a member of the American Legion Mumford-Moon Post 79 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Sioux Valley Post 1750.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Grant and his wife Susan of Correctionville and Brad of Quimby, Iowa; a daughter and her husband, Marcia and Stoney Cobb of Correctionville; six grandchildren, Joey and Cortney Nippert, Cathie, Christy, and Chase Fitch, and Josie Cobb; a great-grandson; two brothers and their wives, Stanley and Betty of Correctionville and Jerry and Elaine of Quimby; four sisters, Norma Mathers of Cushing, Iowa, Marie and her husband Wayne Koskovich of Renton, Wash., Grace and her husband Henry Groszkruger and Alta and her husband Danny Clark all of Correctionville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Warren.
