SIOUX CITY | Mildred Kathryn Carney, 101, of Sioux City, formerly of Rockford, Ill., died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at Westwood Nursing and Rehab Center.

Services were held Oct. 20 at Court Street United Methodist Church, 215 N. Court St., in Rockford, where the Rev. Calvin Culpepper officiated. Entombment was in Sunset Mausoleum. Arrangements were under the direction of Olson Funeral and Cremation Services, Ltd, Fred C. Olson Chapel in Rockford. She was born on July 22, 1911, in Shabbona, Ill., the daughter of John and Margaret (O’Connell) Mihm. Mildred graduated from Northern Illinois University.

She married Irvin F. Carney on July 22, 1939, in Rockford. He preceded her in death in 1993.

Survivors include her daughter, Marilyn (Lee) Chamberlain of Sioux City; son, I. James Carney of Kent, Wash.; four grandchildren, Gretchen Chamberlain of Marion, Iowa, Scott (Theresa) Chamberlain of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Karina (Brian) Schaub of Federal Way, Wash. and Kalen Carney of Portland, Ore.; three great-granddaughters, Marie Chamberlain, Kaylie and Kelsey Schaub; and one sister, Irene Bernadine Halloway of Rochelle, Ill.
