SIOUX CITY | Helen Ann Feste, 82 of Sioux City passed away on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, surrounded by her family at Sunrise Retirement Community following a 14-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with the Rev. Merlin Schrad officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a rosary recited by St. Therese Study Club at 4:30 p.m., and a vigil service at 7 p.m., all at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Helen Ann was born Sept. 17, 1930 in Sioux City. She was the daughter of Roy and Helen (Betz) Krage. Helen Ann was a lifelong Sioux City resident, having graduated from Blessed Sacrament Grade School and Central High School.

She married Arne O. Feste at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church on Dec. 27, 1951, Arne passed away on June 19, 2011 in Sioux City. Helen Ann was a stay-at-home mother caring for her seven children. She also was a day care provider for other children in her home.

She was a lifelong member of Blessed Sacrament; she was a member of the St. Therese Study Club and Junior League. She was a proud supporter of Bishop Heelan Catholic Schools and had served on the Heelan Parents Board. Helen Ann did volunteer work at Holy Spirit Retirement Home, Blessed Sacrament Church and School. She enjoyed attending all of her children’s and grandchildren’s activities and spending time at Lake Okoboji.

Survivors include her six children, Krage Feste and his wife Teresa of Sioux City, Jeff Feste and his wife Kathy of Byron, Ill., Liz Rickert and her husband Mike of Sioux City, Scott Feste and his wife Nancy of Naperville, Ill., Kathy Heaton and her husband Kevin of Sioux City, and Dan Feste and his wife Lisa of Dakota Dunes, S.D.; her daughter-in-law, Diane Feste of Lawton, Iowa; three brothers, Sam Krage and his wife Joyce, Ron Krage and his wife Joan, and Colonel Krage and his wife Jeanette, all of Sioux City; three sisters, Marilyn Higgins and her husband Bob of Milford, Iowa, Barb Nicknish and her husband Tom of Iowa City, Iowa, and Mary Alice Swanson and her husband Chuck of Clinton, Iowa; a brother-in-law, Don Miller of Seattle, Wash.; 23 grandchildren, David Feste, Josh Feste and Ashley Miller, Jenny Petty and her husband Mark, Krage Feste, John Feste, Beth McCostlin and her husband Adam, Jeff Feste, Jordan Feste, Amy Thompson and her husband Mike, Kari Johnson and her husband Seth, Megan Schettler and her husband Eric, Laura McElroy and her husband Josh, Tom Rickert, Christopher Rickert, Katie Feste, Lauren Feste, Stephanie Feste, Kristi Heaton, Kyle Keaton, Kasey Heaton, Hannah Feste, Michael Feste and Allyson Feste, 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Helen Ann was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Doug Feste; a sister, Blanche Ward; a sister-in-law, Ardis Miller; a brother-in-law, Don Feste; and her father and mother-in-law, Ole and Esther Feste.

Memorials may be directed to Sunrise Retirement Community or Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

The family would like to thank the staff of Sunrise Retirement Community for the loving care given to Helen Ann.
