ANTHON, Iowa | Eugene F. Hayworth, 88, of Anthon passed away Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012, at Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton, Iowa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church in Anthon, with the Rev. Ben Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 pm.. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Armstrong Funeral Home in Anthon. Online condolences may be expressed at www.armstrongfuneral.com.

Eugene Francis Hayworth the son of Grayson and Mary (Walling) Hayworth, was born on the family farm south of Anthon on June 22, 1924. He attended school in Anthon through the eighth grade, then he joined his father on the farm. A true farmer and lifelong Anthon resident, Eugene, farmed along with custom baling, combining and custom corn shelling over a wide radius around Anthon.

Eugene married Bonnie Fuller on Dec. 11, 1945, in Federated Church in Oto, Iowa. To this union two children were born, Ruth and Phillip.

They were members of United Methodist Church in Anthon.

Family members left to cherish their memories of Eugene include his wife of 67 years, Bonnie; his daughter, Ruth Hayworth of Des Moines; his son, Phillip Hayworth and his wife Stella of Anthon; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; his brother, Herman Hayworth and his wife Mildred of Fair Oaks, Calif.; a nephew, Robert and his wife Marty Hayworth of Chico, Calif.; nieces, Linda Strode of Kewanee, Ill., and Nancy and her husband Dean Riesterer of Fort Wayne, Ind.; and grandnephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Grayson and Mary Hayworth.
