Iona was born on July 23, 1926, in O'Neill, Neb., the daughter of John Edward and Della Elizabeth (Harshbarger) Kee. She attended a rural elementary school, O’Neill High School, and Van Sant Business School in Omaha. Iona was employed at Kloke Investment Company while attending business school, and for several years following.

On April 17, 1946, Iona was united in marriage to Rodney A. Livings at First Presbyterian Church in O’Neill. The couple’s first home was in Centerville, Iowa, transferring to Sioux City in 1951 and have resided here since that time. While Iona’s children were in Bryant Elementary School, she was an assistant troop leader with Cub Scouts, Brownies, and was a room parent. She was a secretary at First Presbyterian Church for four years. She then took a position in the loan department of First Federal Savings and Loan Association, later known as First Federal Savings Bank, as an assistant secretary and worked there until her retirement in 1991.

As a member of First Presbyterian Church, Iona participated in various circles, holding offices on different committees, and was a deacon. She also did a term as treasurer of United Presbyterian Women. Iona was a member of Isis Chapter of Eastern Star. With her husband, she greatly enjoyed square and round dancing, belonging to, and officiating in, various dance clubs. They had fun traveling and wintering in the Southwest. Genealogy was one of Iona’s passions along with scrapbooking.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her husband, Rodney; son, Randall A. and his wife, Wendy of Sioux City; daughters, Jan Renee of Sioux City, Kathryn J. Kennedy and her husband, Shawn of Omaha, and Sharri A. Livings of Excelsior Springs, Mo.; eight grandchildren, Peter Flynn, Ben Flynn and his wife, Lesia, Molly Flynn, Maude Livings and her fiance, Brian Morris, Richard Livings, Robert Livings, Sara Kennedy, and Rachel Kennedy; and three great-grandchildren, Connor, Haylee, and Sophia Flynn.

Iona was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Elva Leidy, Wilma Hering, and Aladene Bates; and three brothers, Mervin, Kenneth, and Orville Kee.

Memorials may be offered to Hospice of Siouxland in Iona’s name
