Mabel M. Schibonski of Sioux City died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, at Northpark Senior Living in Sioux City.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Dakota Dunes, with the Rev. Kevin Vogts officiating. Burial will be in Willow Township Cemetery, Holly Springs, Iowa. Visitation will be 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.

Mabel was born on Nov. 14, 1908, at Holly Springs, the daughter of Len and Lizzie (Becker) Forney. She grew up in Holly Springs, graduating from Holly Springs High School in 1927.

Mabel married Elmer Schibonski on Nov. 26, 1936 in Sioux City. They made their home in Sioux City. They later moved to Omaha, and Denver, Colo. After Elmer died, Mabel returned to the Sioux City area and made her home in Dakota Dunes. She moved to Northpark Senior Living during the 2011 flood.

Mabel was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Dakota Dunes.

Mabel is survived by a brother, Charles Forney of Sioux City; a sister, Gail Lloyd of Sloan, Iowa; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer; a brother, Everett; and three sisters, Marion Piercy, Evelyn Sexton and June Madsen.
