September 20, 2012Mary Ann Dvorkin, 65, of Sioux City passed away Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, at her residence.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff, with the Rev. Fred Pilecki officiating. Burial will be in Sloan Cemetery, Sloan, Iowa. Visitation is one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral home.
Mary was born on Sept. 15, 1947, in Little Sioux, Iowa, the daughter of Arthur and Ella (Martinsen) Nelson. Mary graduated in 1965 from Westwood High School in Sloan.
Mary was united in marriage to Brian Dvorkin in Sioux City. She worked her way up to assistant manager at Woolco and later with Shop-Ko.
She was of the Lutheran faith and attended Shepherd of Peace Church.
Mary is survived by her son, Joe Dvorkin and his wife, Amy Lynn of Colorado Springs, Colo.; her brothers, Fred (Ella) Nelson of Salix, Iowa, Lee (Dory) Nelson of San Antonio, Texas, and Ray (Janice) Nelson of Salix; her grandchildren, Kamber and Cody Nelson; her sister-in-laws, Doris Nelson of Sloan and Mary Lynn Nelson of Salix; and her brother-in-law, Don Rogers of Des Moines.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Brian, on Nov. 25, 2002; three brothers, Bryon, Charles and Bob Nelson; and one sister, Doris Rogers.
