SIOUX CITY | Paul E. "Sonny" Nelson Jr., 54, formerly of Sioux City passed away unexpectedly July 21, 2012, in Arizona from natural causes.

Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Holy Spirit Chapel in Sioux City, with the Rev. Lawrence Burns officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

Sonny was born on Oct. 29, 1957, in Sioux City, the son of Paul and Lorena Nelson. He attended school in Sioux City. Following school, he was employed at various jobs in Siouxland. He later moved to Arizona to work with his uncle.

He was married to Marsha Williams and they had a son, Christopher. They later divorced.

He enjoyed camping, cooking, and fishing.

Survivors include his his son, Christopher and his friend, Tabitha of Sheldon, Iowa; two sisters, Mary Crosgrove and husband, Eldon of Sioux City, and Lillian Ruth Davis and husband, George of Sioux City; numerous nieces and nephews; and his special friend, Linda.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings, Betty Jean Jasman, Loretta Marie Nelson, and Dorothy Ilene Nelson.

His family will deeply miss him. Rest in peace Sonny.
