SIOUX CITY | Donald R. "Don" Capers, 62, of Sioux City died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the Sergeant Bluff American Legion. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Don was born on Nov. 29, 1949, in Sioux City, the son of Oscar and Helen (Lemek) Capers. He grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Central High School in 1967. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam conflict.

Don married Deborah Goodon on July 27, 1973, in Norton, Kan. She died on March 10, 1993, in Sioux City. He married Linda Ferrini on June 18, 2009, in Elk Point, S.D.

Don enjoyed fishing, golfing, and traveling.

Survivors include his wife, Linda of Sioux City; three daughters, Yvonne Ackerly and her husband, Jamie of South Sioux City, Stephanie Capers of Sioux City, and Deborah Rosenbaum and her husband, George of Spokane, Wash.; five stepchildren, Joelene (Buell) Patricelli, Natasha, John, Charlie and Randy Patricelli; three brothers, Dennis Capers, Bobby Capers and his wife, Linda, and Chuck Capers and his wife, Tuey; three sisters, Diane Dandurand and her husband, Richard, Patty Fortin and her husband, Daryl, and Sandy Polak and her husband, Steve; 15 grandchildren; a stepgrandson; and a great-grandchild on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his first wife, Deborah.

Pallbearers will be Chuck, Bob and Dennis Capers, George Rosenbaum, Cody Ackerly, Richard Dandurand, and Josh Lowry.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Don's name.
