D. Darlene Kendall, 62, of Hornick, Iowa, died Tuesday, April 8, 1997, at her residence.

Mrs. Keridall was born October 15, 1934, at West Point, Nebraska, the daughter of Carl and Dolly (Davis) Schmidt. She gradated from West Point (Nebraska) High.

On January 4, 1953, she married Robert Kendall at West Point, Nebraska. She worked as a bookkeeper for Goodyear Tire in Council Bluffs, Iowa, as a secretary at the Hornick Grade School for 7 years and as a secretary at Earl's Equipment in Hornick for 8 years.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Hornick where she was active in United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Hindman-Steele American Legion Post #492 Auxillary of Hornick; secretary of the Hornick Chapter of the Siouxland Historical Railroad Association; and a member of the Hornick Centennial Committee.

Survivors include her husband, Robert of Hornick; a son David of Hornick; a daughter and her husband, Debra and Bruce Sturges of Walnut Creek, California; 3 grandchildren, Jennifer and Katelyn, both of Hornick, and Haley Sturges of Walnut Creek, California; a daughter-in-law, Pam Kendell of Hornick; 2 sisters and their husbands, Mary and Bernard Harms of Fremont, Nebraska, and June and Don Popkeri of Ventura, California and 1 step sister, Arlene Christensen of Council Bluffs, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a step-sister, Edith Van Sant.

Funeral Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 10, 1997 at the United Methodist Church, Hornick, Iowa, with Pastor Edgar Elliott officiating. The organist was Mrs. Robert Madsen and the soloist, Mr. Clifford Steinhoff, sang,'"Near the Cross" and "What A Friend We Have In Jesus".

Honorary Bearers were Earl Miller, Millon Smith, Ivan Madsen, Eldon Teel, Dale Teel, and Eldred Lloyd.

Casket Bearers were Lyle Mitchell, Dwight Teel, Leonard Muller, Robert Dietrich, Wayne Mitchell, and Dean Unkel.

Interment was in the Willow Township Cemetery, Holly Springs, Iowa, with arrangements by Wood Funeral Home, Sloan, Iowa.
