Ray Louis Nordstrom, 67, of Sloan died Saturday, June 15, 1996, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 2:31 p.m. Tuesday at the United Congregational Church of Christ in Sloan with the Rev. Earl Miller officiating. Burial will be in Willow Township Cemetery at Holly Springs.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at Wood Funeral Home in Sloan, with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service.

Mr. Nordstrom was born, June 24, 1928, in Kirkhaven, Minn., the son of Albert and Violet (Hedstrom) Nordstrom: He attended Hornick schools.

On April 18, 1948, he married Dolores Dowling in Hornick. He was owner and operated the Sloan Lumber Yard for about 40 years.

Mr. Nordstrom was a lifetime resident of Sloan. He was a Member of the United Congregational Church of Christ of Sloan. He organized Little League baseball in Sloan and was involved with the program for 10 years. He managed the Sloan semi-pro baseball team for eight years. He was a avid golfer and one of the main organizer of the Sloan Golf Course.

He was a past town councilman and fireman.

Survivors include his wife; two sons and their wives, Brad and Linda of Winterset and Rodd and Diana of Sloan and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Joan.
