June 03, 2011Jack W. Smith, 63, of Sergeant Bluff, formerly of Oceanside, Calif., died Sunday, May 29, 2011.
Services will be at a later date in California. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff.
Jack was born Aug. 21, 1947, the son of Jack and Marge (Grotwold) Smith. He obtained a degree in theology from Briar Cliff College. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge in 1996 he continued living in California until moving to Sergeant Bluff in 2007.
Jack was united in marriage to Cindy Quinn on June 25, 2010, in Sioux City.
Jack is survived by his wife, Cindy Quinn-Smith; his two daughters, Angel Smith of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Candace Johnson of La Habra, Calif.; and two stepdaughters, Keri Meyer and Kimberly Meyer, both of Oceanside.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jeff and Scott Smith.
