9 January 1996Mary Lucille Brell, 77, formerly of Sloan, died Friday, Jan. 5; 1996, at Elmwood Care Centre in Onawa.
Services,will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Jopseph Catholic Church in Salix with the Rev. Bruce officiating. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Church Cemetery. Visitation will he 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with a Scripture service at 7:30 at the Wood Funeral Home in Sloan.
Mrs. Brell was born Jan. 29, 1918, in Sioux City, the daughter of LaVern Sr. and Edith Catherine Carter. She graduated from East High School in Sioux City and Wayne State College. She taught elementary school at Bronson, Danbury, Sloan, Salix and Hornick: She married Jack Brell Sept. 16, 1942, at Wichita Falls, Texas. The couple farnied in the Sloan area. She had been a resident of the care centre the last 18 years.
Mrs. Brell was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Marilyn McMillin of Lakewood, Colo.; a son, Ed and his wife, Patricia of South Sioux City; a brother, L.V. Carter Jr. and his wife, Lois of Renton, Wash. five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
