Jean Marie Brandt, 64, of Sioux City, passed away on Friday, July 27, 2012, at a local hospital surrounded by her family following a courageous six-year battle with cancer.

Abiding by Jean’s request, there will be no services. Arrangements are under the direction of Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel.

Jean was born in LeMars, Iowa, on Jan. 28, 1948, to Walter and Bernice Neff. She was raised and received her education in the LeMars Public Schools.

Jean moved to Sioux City in 1966 where she met Tom Brandt, and the two exchanged wedding vows on Sept. 26, 1966. To this union, two sons were born, Darin and Eric.

Jean had a great love of animals and always had pets, and one of her enjoyments was to walk her husky everyday. She also enjoyed embroidery, and was an excellent seamstress. Jean passed time in the winter months with puzzles, and in the summer months growing flowers and working around her yard. Jean also enjoyed traveling in their camper with the husky dogs, including a recent round-trip to San Diego.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters-in-law Bernadine Binder and Loretta Vanderlinden.
