April 17, 2012Faith Utesch, 77, of Moville died April 13, 2012, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, at Moville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Ed Frank officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of McCulloch Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Homes.
Faith was born on Jan. 26, 1935, in West Chester, Iowa, the daughter of Lloyd and Edith (Kleese) Bauer. She attended school in West Chester and graduated from high school in 1952. Faith continued her education and graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Iowa City, Iowa in 1955 as an R.N.
She married James Utesch on July 19, 1956, in Sioux City. They made their home in Iowa City, West Branch and then in Moville in 1961 until 1980. They moved to Cherokee, Denison and later Marshalltown, Iowa, before returning to Moville in 1996. Faith worked in doctors' offices and at the University of Iowa Hospitals, Sioux City hospitals, care centers and in the 1980s she taught community health occupation courses until she retired in 1996. She was director of nursing at Job Core in Denison, Iowa, and the Correctionville Nursing Home. After her retirement, she substituted for the school nurse here in Moville.
Faith was a member of Moville United Methodist Church, where she played organ and piano. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women.
Survivors include her husband, James Utesch of Moville; three sons, Jeffrey and Margo Utesch of Moville, Thomas and Karen Utesch of Moville, and Brian and Lanette Utesch of Cottage Grove, Minn.; a daughter, Carole Utesch of Sioux City; grandsons, Chad and Alisha Utesch of Sioux City, Gavin and Andrea Utesch of Vermillion, S.D., Christopher Utesch of Moville, and Michael Stark of Vermillion; granddaughters, Dawn and Daniel Goodier of South Sioux City, and Claire Utesch of Cottage Grove, Minn.; four great-grandchildren, Jaden Hamman, Dominik Goodier, Zoe Goodier and Jackson Utesch; and sisters, Esther and Mel Frohardt of Centennial, Colo., and Kathlyn and Gary Kramer of Lena, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Harry Bauer and Keith Bauer.
Memorials may be directed to the United Methodist Church Endowment Fund in Moville.
