Jerome "Jerry" Nicholson, 64, of Vermillion, S.D., formerly of Sioux City, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012, at his residence.

The body was cremated. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Calvary Cemetery, with the Rev. Craig Collison officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Jerry was born March 9, 1948, in Sioux City, to Richard and Apollonia (Beck) Nicholson. He attended Heelan Catholic Schools and graduated from St. Thomas Academy in St. Paul, Minn. He went on to graduate from the University of South Dakota with an art degree.

Jerry loved painting, artistry and photography, which was how he spent his days.

Jerry is survived by his sister, Mary Kay (Frank) Pilley of Excelsior, Minn.; a brother, Tom Nicholson of Le Mars, Iowa; a brother, Bill (Jill) Nicholson of Memphis, Tenn.; a sister, Jean Noonan of Paradise Valley, Ariz.; five nieces; and two nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made in Jerry's name to the University of South Dakota Foundation, P.O. Box 5555, Vermillion, S.D. 57069.
