Joshua Mark Hoffman, "Wa Kan Ja-Ma Nee-Ga, Walks on Thunder," died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012, at a Sioux City hospital, with his family and loved ones at his side. Injuries suffered in a fall and complication of Huntington's disease overcame his life.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Ho-Chunk Center in Winnebago, Neb., with Bernard Little George of the Native American Church officiating. Burial will be in Winnebago Cemetery. Visitation will begin today and will continue until service time Wednesday at the Ho-Chunk Center. Arrangements are under the direction of Winnebago Wake and Burial Program.

Joshua was born March 24, 1981, in Sioux City, to Brent Hoffman and Kyndra Horn. He attended Sioux City Community Schools.

He was highly prized by his father especially and his family. During his short walk on this earth, he had many travels, made many friends, sharing his happy personality with all.

He pursued a boxing career and won many trophies throughout the seven years he boxed. Viewing college football was a passion, the Nebraska Cornhuskers being foremost. His ability to recall statistics on teams, players, games, plays (any year) was amazing. Josh was a natural mathematician. Joshua was a humble being and loved his only child deeply and completely.

Survivors include his mother, Kyndra Horn Koomsa; brothers, Jarvis and Edwin Horn and Marcellus and Jeremiah Tillman; sisters, Wendy Horn and Sara DeLuna; a son, Andrew Mark Hoffman; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Brent Hoffman; a sister, Gloria Dawn Hoffman; and grandparents, Melvin Sr. and Edna Tebo Horn, and Richard and Arlene Snake Hoffman.

Pallbearers will be Jarvis Horn, Corey Krotz, Aaron Dean, James White, Kenny Angerman III, Richard Horn, Marlon Horn, and Marcellus Tillman. Honorary pallbearer will be Corey Hernandez.
