February 17, 2012Jeanette S. Dik, 99, of Sioux City died Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with the Rev. Daniel Guenther officiating. Graveside services will be 12:30 p.m. Saturday in St. Joseph Cemetery, Salix, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Mrs. Dik was born Sept. 18, 1912, in Salix, the daughter of Richard and Alma (LeVaseur) LaCroix. She graduated from Salix High School. Shortly after graduating from high school, she moved to Sioux City, where she worked at the West Hotel.
She married A.E. "Tony" Dik on Sept. 1, 1938, in Sioux City. After raising her five children, she worked at Cecelia Park Drug Store for many years.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She enjoyed watching all sports. The Chicago Cubs and New England Patriots were her favorite teams. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, playing cards and spending time with her family.
Survivors include two sons and their wives, James and Barbara Dik of Murrieta, Calif., and Thomas and Theresa Dik of Orlando, Fla.; two daughters, Nancy Bursick of Sioux City, and Delores Forzley of Northridge, Calif.; a brother, Robert LaCroix; a sister, Dolores Worrell; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a daughter, Janice Dopheide; a granddaughter, Janice Wexler; a grandson, Jim Everson; two brothers, Raymond and Richard; and two sisters, Leona and Geneveve.
