Wilfred "Bill" Hinrichsen, 82, of Sergeant Bluff passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2012, at McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Church of the Nativity in Sioux City, with the Rev. Steven McLoud officiating. Entombment will be in the mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the U.S. Navy Reserves. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with family present 6 to 8 p.m. and vigil service at 7 p.m. followed by a Knights of Columbus chalice service, at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Bill was born on Feb. 12, 1930, in Osmond, Neb., to Carl and Severa (Waterman) Hinrichsen. He graduated from Plainview (Neb.) High School in 1948.

He was united in marriage to Margaret Thompson on Sept. 12, 1951, at St. Ludgers Church in Creighton, Neb. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict. Bill worked as an electrical salesman for Crescent Electric for 40-plus years.

He was a member of Church of the Nativity, where he was involved with the church in many forms. He was an extraordinary minister, bingo volunteer, known by many as "Bingo Bill". He was a Third and Fourth degree knight for the Knights of Columbus. He was also a past district deputy and Grand Knight. Bill was also a very proud blood donor of more than 15 gallons.

Bill is survived by his wife of 60 years, Margaret Hinrichsen of Sergeant Bluff; six children, Chuck (Jackie) Hinrichsen of Hinton, Iowa, Mary Pride of Spearfish, S.D., Beth (Scott) Hedrick of Highland Ranch, Colo., Tim Hinrichsen of Sioux City, Patrick (Renae) Hinrichsen of Sioux City, and Carrie (Jerry) Nealon of Lakewood, Colo.; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Gene Hinrichsen of Bradenton, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Kenneth and C.J.
