SIOUX CITY -- Joan T. DeVries, 75, of Davenport, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at her residence following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Davenport. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m., at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home in Davenport. Joan Taggart was born on April 29, 1936, in Sioux City, the daughter of Thomas L. and Gertrude A. (Brennan) Taggart. She was a 1958 graduate of Briar Cliff College in Sioux City, where she earned a B.S. in biology.

Joan was united in marriage to Kenneth Jay DeVries on Dec. 26, 1957, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Sioux City.

Survivors include her husband, Ken; their children and spouses, Jean DeVries Haack of Davenport, Nancy and Stan Framburg of Naperville, Ill., Laura and Mark Reyhons, Lisa and Mike O'Donnell and Dan and Stacie DeVries, all of Davenport; 18 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Terry (Madelyn) Taggart of Vermillion, S.D.; a stepsister, Mary Anderson of Seattle, Wash.; and a sister-in-law, Shirley Taggart of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Frank Sailors; and a brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Ady Taggart. May they rest in peace.
