Darrell Lee McCullough, 56, of Sioux City died unexpectedly Sunday, April 8, 2012, at his residence.

Services were held April 12 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll, Iowa. Burial was in King Cemetery, Vail, Iowa. Arrangements were under the direction of Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll. Condolences may be sent online to www.dahnandwoodhouse.com.

Darrell was born Jan. 19, 1956, in Harlan, Iowa, the son of Leo and Alice (Schaben) McCullough. He grew up in Manilla, Iowa, and graduated from Manilla High School in 1974. Following high school, he attended Western Iowa Tech Community College, where he earned a degree in welding. Darrell worked as a welder and fabricated boilers at many job sites throughout the world including Antarctica, Canada, and Alaska.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manilla. In his spare time, he enjoyed NHRA drag racing, stock car racing, fishing with his daughter, and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include three children, Allison McCullough and her special friend, Scott McKillop of Greeley, Colo., Kenny McCullough of Sioux City, and Tianna McCullough of Sioux City; his mother, Alice McCullough of Carroll, Iowa; a sister, Debbie Feld of Carroll; a brother, Larry McCullough and his wife, Bonnie of Arcadia, Iowa; a brother, Randy McCullough and his special friend, Theresa Blackburn of Salix, Iowa; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many good friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leo in 1996; and his grandparents, Leo and Clare McCullough and Clarence and Catherine Schaben.
